Supporting Families Together

It’s Unique Families, with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund, is proud to deliver the Buddy Support Services programme designed to support parents, carers, and families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This initiative provides weekly opportunities every Saturday from 12pm – 2pm at Roundwood Youth and Community Centre, creating a welcoming and supportive environment where families can receive practical guidance, emotional support, and access valuable information about navigating the SEND system.

Through this programme, parents and carers can access 1-to-1 SEND guidance and support, helping them better understand education pathways, available services, and the rights of their children. Many families face challenges when navigating complex systems, and this service ensures they have someone to turn to for advice, reassurance, and practical direction.

At the same time, children and young people can benefit from the SEND Youth Club, kindly hosted on site with the support of Sath Charity, offering a safe and engaging space for young people aged 8 and above to socialise, build confidence, and participate in positive activities while their parents receive support.

With funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, this project helps strengthen communities by reducing isolation, empowering families, and ensuring that parents and carers feel supported in their journey. The partnership highlights a shared commitment to improving the wellbeing of families and creating opportunities where children and young people with SEND can thrive.
