At Its Unique Families, we are always looking for meaningful and inclusive experiences that bring families together and celebrate diversity within our community. As summer approaches, we are excited to begin planning a special trip for SEN families to experience the energy and culture of the Notting Hill Carnival.

This year, we are proud to be working alongside Jamaican Twist Carnival Group, a MAS band organisation founded in 2002. The band brings together people of all ages and backgrounds and proudly promotes the Jamaican motto “Out of Many, One People.” This message celebrates the diversity of Jamaica and reflects the many cultures that come together through music, dance, and artistic expression.

Jamaican Twist is known for being a positive ambassador for Jamaican culture, showcasing the beauty, talent, and history of the island through vibrant costumes, dance, art, and music. As the only Jamaican mas band at the Notting Hill Carnival, Jamaican Twist brings a unique and dynamic presence, representing Jamaica while celebrating the wider Caribbean culture that fills the streets of Notting Hill every August bank holiday weekend.

Through this collaboration, we hope to give families of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) the opportunity to safely enjoy the colours, rhythm, and cultural richness of the carnival in a supportive and inclusive way.

We aim to create a memorable experience where children, young people, and parents can connect, celebrate, and feel part of something truly special.

We are very excited about what is coming, and more details will be announced soon as summer gets closer.
